Why should you attend this program?

Most statistics on large projects are daunting: high failure rates, budget overruns, extended implementation times. There are a number of reasons why, and many articles discuss them (try "software project failures" in your favorite search engine). The costs can be staggering, as can the impact of delayed or cancelled systems.

The web page on Teamwork in Lab Automation discusses the current model of laboratory automation programs, requiring cooperation between senior management, lab mangers, lab staff, and IT groups. Underlying everything is an assumption that all the players are well versed in the products, technologies, and disciplines of planning projects, their management, and product selection. The purpose of this educational program is turn that assumption into reality.

If your lab is considering a lab automation project including laboratory informatics, then those responsible for the projects should be attending these courses. Travel costs, time out of the office, and expenses are an issue everywhere, but the cost of this program is minor compared to cost of poor project planning and management.
